Joe Komperda of the “GO WITH JOE” Campaign for a Longmont At-Large City Council position withdraws from the 2009 Campaign.
“Sometimes we make the right decisions. Sometimes we need to make those decisions right.” With this in mind, Joe Komperda has announced that contrary to his previous declarations, he will not be seeking election for one of the two At-Large positions on the Longmont City Council during the 2009 Election.
Joe stated: “Before I explain the rational for my announcement, I would first like to thank all of the people that were willing to listen to my thoughts and ideas for the future of our great city and pledge their support to me. In the few weeks that I have been actively meeting people as a potential candidate for the City Council, I have met an extraordinary cross section of Longmont citizens and it makes me proud to be a part of this community. I hope that these same 'folks' will be willing to support me in the future when 'the time is right'.”
As the field of declared candidates has grown over the past few weeks, all the potential candidates have stated many of the same views that Joe posed when he first declared his candidacy. In the intervening weeks, several actions have occurred that negate the platform espoused by many of the potential candidates as they have “thrown their hats into the ring”.
As Joe has performed his due diligence in investigating the issues that the city faces, he's realized that at the present time he can better serve the citizenry of Longmont by working with some of the City Commissions and Boards that are already in place. At the same time, he intends on becoming involved with some of the Organizations and Associations that support our city in order to stay up to date with the issues that we face.
Leadership, Management Expertise and Life Experience alone are not necessarily sufficient qualities to serve the citizens of Longmont in a City Council position. There are already a sufficient number of qualified candidates with detailed knowledge of city operations that can make a difference now and Joe will defer to those candidates during this election.
Since Joe previously stated “...you can't complain about the problems unless you're willing to be part of the solution”, he expects that the steps he's outlined above will enable him to become more deeply involved in the city in a meaningful way. Joe thanks all of his supporters and looks forward to a day in the near future when the City of Longmont wil "GO WITH JOE".
Special note: the “Go With Joe” Website (http://www.gowithjoe.org) will remain operational throughout this election period and beyond. Joe will occasionally comment on the issues, actions and items of interest. Emails can be sent to GoWithJoe@comcast.net.
